My Country
My country
Everyone likes the islands. There you can find a way of life thatbelongs to the past. If you go to a small island or one far away, you will findpeace and quiet. It is something you do not find in modern cities.
The sea is warm and clean and many tourists come to my country for thesun and the sea. I like to swim in the sea from June to August. It is quitewarm during the summer months.
One problem in my country is that the people leave the countryside to goand work in the big cities, which means that the cities are full of people andcars and are often polluted and noisy.
However, the people in my country are friendly and family life is stillvery important to them. I like travelling to other countries but
I am always glad to return to

Christmas
Christmas is a religious holiday. It is celebrated on the 25th ofDecember all over the Christian world. It is a time of love and happiness.
For days before Christmas the house smells of baking and cooking, as weprepare the food to offer to relatives and friends.
We spend many Saturdays shopping for presents but there always seems tobe something we have forgotten and we have to
go out on Christmas Eve.
One or two days before Christmas, I buy a Christmas tree and decorate itwith coloured lights.
Christmas Day is very special. We have turkey for lunch and a specialsweet after that. Then in the evening we all go round to a friend's house and playgames. I always get several presents which I open in the morning.
The holidays pass very quickly and we spend all our time visitingfriends and eating the delicious cakes and sweets prepared for us….., We go fora drive in the car and sometimes we go out for a meal. Everyone has fun andbecause there is no school, we can stay
out as late as we like.
We decided to set off for the beach at ten o'clock. We had prepared everything:cold chicken, ham, sausage rolls, bread, cheese, salad and bars of chocolate. Finally, we were ready to go.
When we arrived at the beach, my brother immediately went off to therocks. He always spends hours looking in small pools where he hopes to findcrabs and shells. I get bored by that so I don't go with him.
The sun was shining so I decided to go for a swim. There were childrenplaying in the water and shouting happily to each other while their parentsstood and watched. I love swimming and I am not at all afraid of the sea. Iswam out and out until I felt tired, then turned my head and looked back at
Soon it was time for the picnic so we all sat down on the sand and mymother handed out the food. I tried not to get sand in the sandwiches becausethey don't taste nice that way. My mouth already tasted salty from the sea.
Later on I got out my ball and played on the sand. The sun was hot on myback and soon I was going brown.
My father complained on the way home about the sand in the car but aftera day at the sea, all our clothes were full of sand.
My brother and I would have to clean out the car but we didn't mind. Wehad enjoyed our day.
